TSA Training Types
The student must determine what category of training they are requesting.  The following is an explanation of the different categories as defined by the TSA.

Category 1
For Candidates pursuing training in aircraft with a maximum certified takeoff weight (MTOW) of over 12,500 lbs. who do not qualify for Category 2.  Category 1 is generally for pilots who do not have a type rating for ANY aircraft with MTOW over 12,500 lbs., and have never filled out a training request with the Alien Flight Student Program (AFSP).

Category 2
Candidates pursuing training in aircraft with a maximum certified takeoff weight (MTOW) of over 12,500 lbs. must choose one of the following subcategories:

1. 1.     Candidate holds an airman's certificate from a foreign country (or the U.S.) recognized by the FAA or a U.S. military agency.
   This sub category is for Candidates who have either an FAA or foreign airman's certificate that is recognized by the FAA with a type rating for an aircraft with MTOW over 12,500 lbs.
   
   
2. 2.     Candidate is employed by a foreign air carrier with a security program approved under the CFR.
   This sub category is for Candidates who work for a foreign airline that is considered a Security Approved Foreign Air Carrier by the TSA.  Candidate must list accurate contact information for their employer, as we will need to contact them to verify employment.
   
   
3. 3.     Candidate has unescorted access to a secure airport area under the CFR.
   This sub category is for Candidates who are on the Master Crew List.
   
   
4. 4.     Candidate is a flight crew member with a criminal history check under the CFR.
   This sub category is for Candidates who have submitted fingerprints for any TSA program.  This includes Candidates who have submitted fingerprints to AFSP in the past.

Category 3
For Candidates pursuing training in aircraft with a maximum certified takeoff weight (MTOW) of 12,500 lbs. or less.  Candidates are only required to obtain AFSP approval for the following training events:

1. 1.     Initial airman's certificate, including a private, recreational, or sport pilot certificate.
   If a private and/or commercial license is the candidate's initial FAA license, it is considered an initial airman's certificate and is not exempt.
2. 2.     Instrument Rating (IR)
3. 3.     Multi-Engine Rating (MEL)

Each of these training events requires a separate training request.  All other training events on aircraft with MTOW of 12,500 lbs. or less are exempt from AFSP regulations, including Commercial Pilot License (CPL), Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL), and Certified Flight Instructor (CFI.) These events are exempt only if the candidate holds an FAA stand-alone pilot certificate.

Category 4
Candidates pursuing RECURRENT training in aircraft with a maximum certified takeoff weight (MTOW) of over 12,500 lbs.  These training requests are submitted by the flight training providers -- Candidates need to 'Select Providers for Recurrent Training.'

Each of these categories requires the student to open an account on the Alien Flight Student Program (AFSP) web site from the Department of Homeland Security.  The link for the AFSP is  http://www.flightschoolcandidates.gov.   There is an application guide on the web site to assist in the completing of the application.

We understand that after a hard day of studying you will need a good place to rest and prepare for the next day’s lessons.  For this reason, we have personally scouted the local hotels in our area and found the Candlewood Suites extended stay suites to meet our higher expectations.  For your stay with us in Denver, we’ve arranged discounted contract rates with the Candlewood Suites Denver Tech Center Hotel.  We can help you make your reservations to receive our rates, which are $42.99 + tax per night.

Attractions & Restaurants

There are numerous restaurants in the area that cover just about everything.  From American style diners, barbecue grills, Mexican restaurants, oriental type cuisine, and even several 4 and 5 star restaurants.  Don’t hesitate to ask any of our staff for recommendations to grab a good bite to eat.  Alternatively, you can check out a local restaurant review site to get some reviews of the area.

For any of those unanticipated shopping needs you may have, there is Wal-Mart less than a mile away and a King Soopers only three miles away.  If you can spare some time we are very close to Park Meadows Mall which is worth checking out.  It has some of the best shopping in the Denver area with over 185 restaurants and retailers.

For those seeking fun there is a Family Fun Center located just East of Hotel which offers ice skating, tennis, laser tag and more.   There are a few in-door paint ball facilities; one is also located just east of hotel off Arapahoe Rd.  For those football fans, we are minutes away from the Denver Broncos training camp.  For you golf fans out there, there are a few driving ranges very close to the hotel and training facility.

Air Training Support’s Policies

Refunds requested up to 30 days prior to your class date (in writing) are entitled to a full refund of all tuition and fees paid, less books, shipping fees.  A cancellation fee of $150 will be added to any cancellation to cover administrative expenses.  Buyers shall be entitled to a similar refund in the event that we discontinue the course/program prior to the start of training. 

Prior to 60 days

Buyers who provide written notification of cancellation at least 60 days before the first day of training will receive a full refund less the cost of applicable training materials and shipping costs.

Within 30 days

Buyers who provide written notification of cancellation within 30 days of the first day of training may be subject to the following cancellation fees:

1.       100% of simulator equipment rental fees

2.       100% of non-refundable instructor travel, instructor per diem, hotel and car rental

3.       100% of non-refundable  books and manuals including shipping fees 

After this period there are no refunds.
